If you’re anything like me, then meat is definitely a staple in your every meal. Vegetarian / vegan food has never appealed much to me because I can’t imagine how one can go without meat! But hey, there are thousands of vegetarians locally, so I decided to give it a go and went on a little adventure to find the best vegetarian / vegan restaurants in Singapore.
I may not be an expert in this area, but I guess when vegetarian / vegan restaurants can make even meat-lovers want to come back for more, then they must have done a crazy amazing job on the cook and presentation of their dishes.
Since the dishes will consist mostly of beans, carbs and vegetable, the textures of the ingredients on a dish become a very important factor in deciding how good the dish is.
Not forgetting seasoning and flavour, a perfect meatless dish to me must have a good blend in texture, and a strong well-seasoned sauce to spice up the otherwise boring meal. Mediterranean, Italian, Chinese, Korean and all sorts of cuisines – Healthy and guilt-free indulging, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
1. Original Sin
Original Sin is one of the oldest and only mediterranean restaurant serving vegetarian food. Having been around for close to 15 years, this restaurant has never disappointed. Located near many famous cafes and eateries in Holland Village, Original Sin is a place you cannot miss.
The Mezze Platter ($22) is hands down the best starter I’ve had here. This is a Middle Eastern dish featuring pita bread served with fresh dips and falafel balls. The dish is so incredibly flavourful, it will surely tingle at your taste buds and leave you wanting more.
The Bosco Misto ($32), featuring a deep-fried patty, is another must-try. Original Sin also claims to have one of the best tiramisu in town, which I beg to differ thou. Unlike items on the main menu, the desserts are nothing too exceptional.
